Watch out Kanye, Kendrick is coming for the ego crown with his new song “I”. The self-proclaimed king of the rap game has just conjured up some fire to fuel his hype Inferno. K-dot goes in a new direction on this song sampling the Isley Brother’s “Who’s That Lady” (YouTube) with some sick electric guitar riffs while spitting some tight bars in the meantime. The feel of the song is an upbeat club anthem asserting the TDE rapper at his throne.

I enjoy that Kendrick is taking risks and experimenting with exotic beats and it really shows in his progression as an artist. Earlier this year Kendrick said that he would be coming out with a new album before the end of the year. The untitled album is still in the works but if “I” is any indication we may be in store for an experimental record from Kendrick, demonstrating his artistic prowess. And remember, if you’re gonna start a fire, I guess I gotta eat that whole bowl of oatmeal.
